Madman laughing at the rain.

Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 3:33pm
I managed to get out for a bike ride today while the sun was still shining. For the first half anyway. Then a typical Saskatchewan storm moved in out of nowhere and started dumping rain and hail on me. The first shelter that I could get to was underneath the train bridge, and there were about a dozen other cyclists and runners all gathered under there, laughing and smiling and chatting.
"C'mon in, we'll make room!" someone chirped and people hopped their bikes over to make space for me.
With the exception of a few couples we were all strangers, but everyone was very friendly.
"This was the one bridge I didn't want to get caught under." a man laughed, looking up at the rain falling through the rails still. It was better than no cover however.
One of the girls under the bridge lit up and said "This is actually kind of fun!"
I told her "I was just thinking the same thing. I've lived in a lot of cities where people aren't very smiley when they get caught outside in a rainstorm."
I love Saskatoon
