Anderson, my little 3 year old had a nasty cough going yesterday, and he fell asleep at supper time. At 2:30 in the morning he woke up having a little difficulty breathing. He's had some mild asthma lke attacks when sick before, and doctors at the time told us that using one of his sister's inhalers would help, so gave him some inhaler. However he continued thrashing and crying all night, and requiring an inhaler every few hours. By this morning he needed the inhaler pretty much every hour. By the afternoon he was having quite a bit of trouble breathing, so I took him to the doctor to be put on a nebulizer (this kind of thing has happened twice before, and that's what the doctors suggested to do then). However this time was apparently a little more serious, and the Doctor at the clinic recommended that I get him to emergency right away, he would take care of all the admissions deetz so that we could just rush Anderson right in. They put him on a nebulizer at emergency, and gave him a steroid to bring down the inflammation in his lungs. Doctors in the past sort of downplayed his symptoms and didn't diagnose him with asthma, but they have now, and we're treating him accordingly. We think it will probably pass, as his sister had asthma when she was a toddler and it kind of cured itself.
In other news Janet met us at the medical clinic. She needed treatment too. A heavy drawer fell out of a desk that she was moving at work and smoked her in the head, driving a nail into her forehead at the same time.
Now we're having a previously scheduled playdate with one of Drew's friends. To cancel it would have been more devastating than any of the previous unfortunate events of the day.
