Here in Grande Prairie it's a little after midnight and the sun is just going down. I've been here for a few days now, and the hotel staff are starting to recognize me.
About half an hour ago the front desk lady spotted me as I was on my way out for a walk.
"Are you going to be able to sleep tonight?" she smiled.
I laughed. "You noticed that huh?" and she smiled and nodded. "It's the extra hours of daylight that do it to me..." I tried to explain.
"I know, it's not just you. It sends a lot of people for a loop."
"I'm sensitive to the seasons to begin with..." I told her. "I literally lose my will to live in the winter if I don't get lots of exercise."
"It really messes with your head up here, believe me." she said.
So she's noticed I haven't been sleeping. Here's what she may have noticed. I work 10 to 12 hours a day. Usually I'll go out for a run before or after work then come to the computer down here half a dozen times or so.
She may have noticed or heard from other co-workers that I repaired the exercise equipment in the gym one night. One of the cables had slipped off of the pulleys, so I borrowed some tools and fixed it.
She may also have noticed that earlier today I came back to the hotel with an assortment of bike pieces. I borrowed the tools again and earlier tonight went out for a ride on the vintage Norco Bush Pilot I picked up and repaired in my hotel room for a grand total of ten bucks.
She also may have noticed me working out in the gym I repaired in the middle of the night, leaving for work at 4:30 in the morning some days...
I'm going freakin' crazy up here. Freakin' sunshine
